New seat

I decided to try out a single sprung seat as the sprung hub rear suspension, with its 1 1/2 inches of travel, is a bit 'hard' to say the least and travelling over big bumps with the twinseat was a bit uncomfortable. Picked up a replica Lycette seat, supplied by Wassell, from the Stafford bike show for £30. Looks like a 'Made in India' job but OK for the price. It came with a pair of quite horrible chrome springs so I bit the bullet and got a pair of chromed 'beehive' springs, as origionally fitted, from Ebay (made by LF Harris) which at £45 were more than the seat !!. I needed to make up brackets for the seat nose mounting and also weld on a couple of plates at the rear of the seat frame as the mounting holes provided did not line up with the mountings on the bike frame. The rear spring to frame mounting studs were made from a couple of old car cylinder head studs I had lying about which I 'replica chrome' plated. Not tried it out yet but it is nice and 'springy' and should absorb the shocks that the sprung hub cannot cope with.
