Single seat update
A while since I've posted because I have been a bit busy wiring up a 1946 Lanchester LD10 for a friend.
Anyway.....single sprung seat is certainly different. The ride is so much more comfortable but the 'bouncing' sensation takes a bit of getting used to. As I have said before, the sprung hub is all but totally rigid and, with a solid twin seat, the only 'comfort' springing is in the seat foam.
Other updates:
Primary chain keeps 'tightening' slightly during a ride (and rear chain goes a bit slack). Looks like the gearbox is being pulled back by the rear chain when its under tension when accelerating. Gerabox mounting bolts are properly tight but I have found some play in the 'ball joint' on the end of the adjuster bolt. I think this is allowing the box to be puled back slightly (about 3mm) as it moves from the front of its socket...where is sits after tightening the primary chain...to the back of the socket. I am going to try adjusting, then tightening the mounting bolts, then unscrewing the adjuster until it sits against the back of the socket.
Speedometer: was eratic above 75mph......head was still OK, looks like it was the cable 'winding up' / binding at the point it passes out of the outer cable at the speedo end where there was a 'collar' crimped onto the inner. A washer under this collar appears to ahve solved this problem.
